Being the son of artists his mother Ivna is a sculptress and pianist and his father, Edgar Duvivier senior, was a renowned sculptor. Edgar Duvivier has always painted and sculpted since he was a child.
Edgar Duvivier began his music studies at the age of 7, playing the clarinet. He graduated in 1983 from Berklee College of Music, and is now a composer and a sax player. He was awarded with prizes "Kikito" for best scoring film at Gramado Festival and "Mambembe" for best scoring play. He has released four solo CDs.
Edgar composes for TV, Cinema and Theatre and he has a long playing and teaching experience.
As a visual artist, Edgar sculpts contemporary multi-media pieces and also busts and public monuments as Princess Isabel (Av. Atlantica) Oscar Niemeyer and Juscelino Kubitschek (Niteroi) Senator Dinarte Mariz (Natal), Golf Player Mario Gonzales (Gavea Golf Club) and many others.
Edgar also held tree individual openings of his light boxes, at Claudio Bernardes Gallery, in Rio de Janeiro and in Chicago (Gruen Galleries and Aldo Castillo Gallery). In these latter creations, sculpture, painting and artistic object come together. Each one of them portrays scenery by illuminated water and, like a slice of nature, they are magical windows to an enlightened world.
Now he works on new CD and on an exhibition “Logos” with sculptures that interact with the audience, “playing”, lightening and blowing perfume.
